Forklift Pedestrian Awareness

Forklifts and pedestrians share space in many warehouses. The highest-risk moments happen at blind corners, dock doors, intersections, and trailer entries. Operators should slow down, sound the horn when visibility is limited, and never assume a pedestrian sees them. Pedestrians should stay in marked walkways, avoid phone distraction, and make eye contact before crossing traffic paths. Supervisors should correct shortcutting immediately because one poor habit can become the normal path for the whole team.

Discussion questions

  1. Where could this hazard show up in our area today?
  2. What control do we need to verify before work starts?
  3. What should be reported immediately?
