Housekeeping and 5S

Good housekeeping is a safety control. Clutter hides hazards, narrows walkways, blocks emergency equipment, and increases the chance of slips, trips, fires, and struck-by events. A clean, organized area helps people see abnormal conditions quickly. Put tools away, remove waste, keep aisles clear, and correct hazards before leaving the area.

Discussion questions

  1. Where could this hazard show up in our area today?
  2. What control do we need to verify before work starts?
  3. What should be reported immediately?
