PPE Last Line of Defense

PPE is important, but it is the last line of defense. The first priority is to eliminate the hazard, engineer it out, or control exposure through procedures and training. PPE must match the hazard, fit correctly, and be maintained. Damaged, contaminated, or wrong-sized PPE can create a false sense of protection.

Discussion questions

  1. Where could this hazard show up in our area today?
  2. What control do we need to verify before work starts?
  3. What should be reported immediately?
